Sugar
Quedow is a seasoned cutting horse with over $35,000
in NCHA Lifetime Earnings. He was formerly owned and
ridden by Bob Kennedy of Oregon, a very respected and
well-known $50,000 rider, who now shows Hes
A Missouri Doc.
I
have owned and ridden Sugar for several years, and now
must reluctantly let him go on to teach someone else
what he has taught me. Sugar is a smooth-stopping, easy-riding
cutter who can show you all the moves. A true pro with
a great big heart and tons of go, Sugar
is getting up there in years (26) and so probably shouldnt
be ridden on cows more than a couple of times a week
(its not like he needs any training!).
When
I had him x-rayed prior to purchase, my veterinarian
said he has the hocks of a six-year old.
Youd be welcome to submit him to any pre-purchase
veterinary examinations, of course.
The
only supplement he gets to his hay diet is a daily,
one-ounce ration of liquid Corta-Flx for his
joints. (I take something very similar for mine!) He
has never had any health problems while here, nor any
others that I am aware of. He is an extremely easy keeper,
and lives in a half-acre paddock with another gelding,
even sharing a 12 x 12 box stall with him in inclement
weather.
Sugar
has perfect ground manners and no vices. He had some
rough treatment (after Bob Kennedys time), and
wed like to see him go to someone with a gentle
touch who is not overly aggressive with spurs. (I ride
him without spurs; he just doesnt need them!)
If
youre serious about getting into cutting and want
a horse who can teach you a lot, consider Shug.
We will be selective in placing him. This may offfend
some people who we dont feel would be good to
him, but he has sure been good to me, and he deserves
the best.
Give
me a call to come see him and arrange for a test drive
on cattle anytime.
